PLAYER CAMERA NOW IN RUGBY! - But will they be using it for the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan?

Remember the days when the whole family gathered in the living room to watch a rugby match on the flickering black and white TV. The camera angles were basically wide and "a little too close". Who would have thought back then, that we would be able to watch a part of the action from the direct perspective of a player? Grandpa would not have believed it.

Well, the future is here and is about to become a reality for all of us.

FirstVision Player Camera debuted in SKY Sports production of the England Rugby League match between Warrington Wolves & Leigh Centurions on 16 /03/ 2017. Kurt Gidley (Warrington) was the first ever Rugby player to wear a Camera during an official Rugby match.

This excerpt is from the website of FirstVision and sums up what they do.

The question which now arises, would be wether the technology is sufficiently developed to be incorporated into the major sporting events. Imaging running the 100m relay with the Jamaican runners, switching from camera to camera during the olympic games, or being part of the excitement when, in the closing minutes of the World Cup Rugby final (between whom do you think), the scrums manage to push right over the try line for a dramatic try and conclusion to the world cup.
